Linger Afterwards- It is a “School Night” but you are welcome to stay at Baobab Village from 10pm onward when the irrepressible DJ Walt Digz spins his amazing array of salsa and reggaeton.  Kicking off this late-night show will be a scintillating Rueda dance demonstration by Nick and Serena & Company.

Coupe Decale 9-19

On Saturday September 19th, we will have the next Coupe Decale at the Baobab Village.  Little Baobab and Le Petit Bárbes (formerly Bollyhood) will both be open for the single cover of 7 dollars.  You will be able to check out two rooms with diverse styles and feels.

At the newly christened Le Petit Barbes performing this month will be Maïmouna Coulibaly a dancer from Paris who runs regular classes and sell-out workshops at ‘Le Centre de Danse du Marais’, one of the most prestigious dance schools in Paris, and throughout Europe.  She will be presenting her play Hééé Mariamou.. at Dance Mission Theater on September 25th, 26th, and 27th, as well as doing a Coupe Decale, Dancehall, Kuduro workshop at the same place on Sundays September 13th and 20th.  This will be a true Coupe Decale night!

Also, in Little Baobab, we will have DJ’s Geko Jones and Uproot Andy of Dutty Artz music label who are two African Diaspora DJ’s that specialize in Afro-Caribbean and Afro-Colombian music at their regular night Que Bajo in New York.

As always we will have our regular Baobab DJ’s, Marco, Stevie B, Chief Boima, and Alfie1Bateria.
